Trip to Cedar City

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!

How was your guys’ weekend? I hope it was good, and your Monday wasn’t horrible!

Josh and I are back from our mini vacation from Cedar City… and we are glad to be back home, but we will be going back soon! After all, in little Utah over here, Cedar City is home to SUU (Southern Utah University) and that means… it is the home of the Shakespeare Festival! We are hoping to be back there at least in Fall!!! I am dedicating today’s blog to the adventures we had in Cedar! Without anymore delay, here it is!

We started our trip the day after getting there, heading up to the mountains. It was so cool and the air was fresh, it felt like I was at home. Cedar was really hot, so being up there was refreshing. The top picture was taken overlooking Navajo Lake, where we saw two Bald Eagles flying over the water! The bottom picture is on a ledge of the mountain where you can see Zion’s National Park! How cool is that??

We spent a lot of time in town. We walked the grounds of Southern Utah University, made our way to a small used book store, and to 1 stop shop comic book store. To finish off our adventure, we went out to the desert hills, where a shooting range lays hidden away from civilization.

The bottom right corner photo was taken on top of Cedar Mountain where there are fields of Lava Flows! Fun fact: Navajo Lake, Utah is there as a result of a volcanic explosion, and is resting on a bed of limestone! It is also connected to Cascade Falls!

We are falling more and more in love with Cedar, I wouldn’t be surprised if one day we move there!

Have you ever been to Cedar City?

We look forward to our next adventure down in the Cedar Hills, if you ever get the chance, head there to see the beauty of nature, especially if you are heading through town!

Rough Night Help

Hey y’all!

How’s your Saturday going?

Josh and I made it to our destination yesterday! But like most people, once you get to where you’re going, and you’ve been cooped up in a car, you are pretty exhausted by the end of the day.

When I am winding down for the day, I generally just like to turn on Netflix or YouTube and zonk out. Sometimes that isn’t enough. My mind will run and run keeping me awake and alert. Two things you don’t want to be feeling when you are trying to- oh I don’t know- sleep?!

That’s when I pull out my essential oils and a good book 🙂

I am currently reading The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, I am posting my current locations on Goodreads. Along with putting breathe on my chest, lavender on my wrists, I start to feel the effects. Even then, I may need some help, only when I am away from home, that’s when I turn to the Serenity blend. Within 15 mins, I am out.

What do you guys do to help you sleep?

Reading Challenge 2017

We are almost into June! And this means that summer is quickly descending upon us!

This also means that we are half way through the year (at the end of June). And on the wonderful site of Goodreads, I am on my way of completing my Reading Challenge! I have personally challenged myself to read at least 6 books by the end of the year.

If I can read more, then wonderful! The only problem I have is that I want to read several things at a time! I have at least four different books that I am reading in tandem. This is one of my biggest struggles when it comes to reading. I am not the only one in my family to struggle with that. Sorry, I’m going off topic!

So, I have read 2 out of 6 books already this year! Not all hope is lost! You can see my current reads on the sidebar if you want to see what I am up to! If you have any challenges you are making for yourself, I wish you the best of luck!!!! Whatever they may be!

A Nice Break

Reading The Way of Kings by: Brandon Sanderson. Made this bookmark! Found this on Pinterest Via Tumblr on Queen of RusAme's page

After working two graveyards and forgetting what day it is, it feels so nice to do absolutely nothing. How often do we forget to just be still? I see fully once again how easy it is to keep going and going without taking any time to be still for awhile and refocus our lives. Not only that, to appreciate the things that we love and often take for granted.
I was more than happy to curl up reading a book and get a little crafty with making a bookmark from one of my most favorite Anime shows and Manga series, Hetalia! (created by Himaruya Hidekaz) It is beyond hilarious with stereotypical personified countries! (I’ll do an Anime/Manga post in the future I’m sure!)
It is still a struggle trying to get used to graveyard shifts and trying to get some gym time in. Hopefully it will get easier!
I am so grateful that I have the night off where I can get some family time and sleep time in! I hope you all are doing well and are having an awesome weekend!
Love,
Bailey

Author Spotlight: Brandon Sanderson

Happy day to you my fellow climbers! It is almost the weekend and Salt Lake Comic Con is a week away! *Happy Dance*

I want to share with you all one of my all-time favorite Authors. Brandon Sanderson definitely rates up to my top 5 easily. I don’t have a certain order for them but his books are all in my top 5 favorite books!

I actually met Brandon at Comic Con back in 2014, I was so nervous and excited to meet him! He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met.
I was first introduced to one Sanderson’s works through my Uncle who is an avid reader. He asked if I ever read the Mistborn Series. I said no, but asked what it was about. He explained it to me where he didn’t spoil anything and said I should check it out.

Not long after, I go to Barnes & Noble (my home away from home!) and found the first book titled Mistborn. I started to read it and I immediately fell in love with it! I listened to the rest of it on audio and my uncle lent us his hard drive that had the rest of the series on audiobook! Then my Uncle told me that there was an Adventure RPG (role playing game) based off the books. I IMMEDIATELY found it on Amazon and bought it! (I am not obsessed I swear!)

I listened to them while I worked, traveled, slept, and in my free time. Then after listening to them, knowing every detail of them, I decided to check out some more of Sanderson’s works. The next book I found was Warbreaker, and again, I fell in love with it! As of right now, I am downloading The Rithmatist and look forward to this adventure!

Brandon Sanderson has made a huge impact on my life, mostly through the Mistborn series. It was because no matter how dark times may be, there is always hope for a brighter and better tomorrow.

I highly recommend Brandon Sanderson’s works to you! Especially if you are a fan of fantasy!

Keep climbing your mountains and make everyday matter!

Always,
-Bailey

Book review: The Fault In Our Stars by: John Green

Even though me reading this book was way over due, I have finished it. Oh John Green, you know where the wound in a person’s heart is and you pour salt in it. I mean this in the nicest way possible though, even though it sounds a bit harsh. The Fault In Our Stars is beautifully tragic but it has a lot of interesting points in it, most of them came from Mr. and Mrs. Waters’ many “encouragements”.
My most favorite one and the one I found comforting is the same as Hazel’s and Augustus’. “Without pain, we couldn’t know joy.” And the second, “That’s the thing about pain… it demands to be felt.”
Both these statements are true, it is a part of being human, we need to feel pain otherwise we could never feel joy.
Back to my final thoughts on the book, I recommend it to anyone who is wanting a funny, hopeful, tragic, and love filled story. John Green, you are a genius.

I am finishing up Finger Lickin’ Fifteen by Janet Evanovich from the Stephanie Plum series (I also highly recommend this series) and as soon as I finish this, I am starting Paper Towns

The Book Bucket List

This morning's agenda includes posting a blog post, listening to The Fault In Our Stars, and pumpkin spice hot chocolate.
This morning’s agenda includes posting a blog post, listening to The Fault In Our Stars, and pumpkin spice hot chocolate.

I began to use this really weird website called GoodReads… and it has consumed my life. Not only have I added several books to my “Currently Reading” list, but I have a deep desire to run to the nearest Barnes and Noble. I haven’t been so consumed in books in such a long time, and this has caused me to crate the 2015 Book Bucket List. The list goes as follows:

1. Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson
2. I am Malala by Malala Yousafzia
3. Paper Towns by John Green (I am listening to The Fault In Our Stars while I type this and I wish to curse this man for the beauty he put into words, but I will instead praise him. Hey, love your enemies, right?)
4. #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso
5. To Set a Watchman by Harper Lee (I CANNOT WAIT for this book to hit the shelves! I have been waiting and hoping for Harper Lee to write a sequel for To Kill a Mockingbird! July please get here soon!!!)

And this is just the start! I have been exploring all the possibilities of books and I believe the list will grow before the week is out!
