This Last Week in a Nutshell

Thank goodness that it is Friday!

It felt like that it would never come. This week, well that last two weeks, have been INSANE! A lot of things have happened. From unexpected company, to a mental break down, to anxiety attacks and ending it all with hope.

Last week, we had 5 extended family members show up, that needed a place to stay for a few days. We all thought that it would be alright, our house isn’t very big. Well, a few days (like that were discussed.) Turned into 5 days. It was hectic to say the least.

Once they were gone, I fell apart. I went through a very nasty break down. I am not going to go into details about what happened. Let’s just say that I got a first hand experience in disciplining. I wasn’t expecting to play “Mom” while everyone was here. I also was going through some day to day stresses.

Josh and I took the weekend of last week to re-cooperate our strength in playing House.  He wasn’t feeling well, I was feeling well. It wasn’t pretty. Then it moved into this week.

It went off very well! I had a job interview and was told “Welcome Aboard!” at the end! *Insert Fist Pump* Then it went a little rough, with the concern for the well being for a very dear friend of mine. I will not go into that.

This is when the rest of the week began to wind down. I did my laundry, the weather was beautiful enough for me to hang my sheets outside to dry. I began working super hard on Christmas gifts, even made my own Pattern for a afghan that I wanted to make!

Until I started to not feel well again. It has piled up. I felt that I was falling into despair. I thought that I wasn’t going to have enough money for school this semester, I thought that I there was something wrong with me because things were going right. But that’s when I needed to take a serious step back and look at the big picture.

I am only in control of a few things, I can’t control the rest of the world. I took SEVERAL deep breaths, and kept pressing forward. I DO have enough money for school, I am fine. Stressed? More than likely. But I am fine. If it weren’t for my essential oils, I would have gotten a LOT worse.

Then to make things better, another friend of mine showed me a link to a charity/service project going on within the next few months. It’s called Click for Babies!

If you crochet and knit, go to: http://www.clickforbabies.org This is a wonderful project to help spread awareness of the Period of Purple Crying to prevent shaken and abusive head trauma in babies. It is amazing! I am going to be participating in this as well! Check to see if your state is on the list! If not, don’t let that stop you! If you have a relative living in a participating state, see if they would be willing to take your caps to a drop off station! You can also donate yarn! Just needs to be purple!

I hope you all have an amazing Friday and weekend!

Knitting: Past Time and Relief

collage-2017-07-12-14_07_44.jpg

Hey Y’all! It’s Hump Day! Almost through the week!!

It’s about time that I make a new post. I have a few ideas in the back pocket, but here is one that I have been thinking about posting for the last few days.

My family has been going through a lot over the last few weeks. My dad’s health isn’t great, my hunt for a job could be better, and we had a tragic death in the family. I also have been struggling with something I have re-discovered about myself. I’ll do a post on that later, after I do some more research.

Even with the bad, there has been some good too. Josh’s niece was in town and we got to spend some time with her, and his family. I’ve starting meditating again and I have been starting to feel better about my situation now.

But one of the things that has been helping me get through this difficult time has been knitting! I picked up knitting almost 5 years ago, by watching YouTube videos. You see, my family crochets. My mom, my grandma, my great-grandma’s, and it goes on and on. Even my brother can crochet! Me? Nope. For the life of me, I cannot crochet. I decided to give knitting a try, but my family cant knit. Or at least they find it difficult. (I understand that struggle.)

So I grabbed my phone, and found how to knit videos, and I picked it up extremely fast! I can’t knit many things, but I am really good at scarfs! 😉

The reason I am posting about it, is that I find knitting to one of my escapes from my anxiety and depression. I am always finding different things to cope with my short comings, and without medication.

And the other day, Josh’s niece asked me if I had any favorite hobbies. I told her a long list of things, then I mentioned that I knew how to knit. Before I could ask her another question, she gasped in excitement asking if I would teach her how to knit too.

I love when you can pass down skills like knitting, sewing, and other like hobbies that our ancestors relied on to survive.

Do any of you knit? How did you learn? How long have you been knitting? Feel free to leave a comment!

I will talk to you all later! Have a great day!

Trip to Cedar City

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!

How was your guys’ weekend? I hope it was good, and your Monday wasn’t horrible!

Josh and I are back from our mini vacation from Cedar City… and we are glad to be back home, but we will be going back soon! After all, in little Utah over here, Cedar City is home to SUU (Southern Utah University) and that means… it is the home of the Shakespeare Festival! We are hoping to be back there at least in Fall!!! I am dedicating today’s blog to the adventures we had in Cedar! Without anymore delay, here it is!

Collage 2017-06-06 14_05_00

We started our trip the day after getting there, heading up to the mountains. It was so cool and the air was fresh, it felt like I was at home. Cedar was really hot, so being up there was refreshing. The top picture was taken overlooking Navajo Lake, where we saw two Bald Eagles flying over the water! The bottom picture is on a ledge of the mountain where you can see Zion’s National Park! How cool is that??

We spent a lot of time in town. We walked the grounds of Southern Utah University, made our way to a small used book store, and to 1 stop shop comic book store. To finish off our adventure, we went out to the desert hills, where a shooting range lays hidden away from civilization.

The bottom right corner photo was taken on top of Cedar Mountain where there are fields of Lava Flows! Fun fact: Navajo Lake, Utah is there as a result of a volcanic explosion, and is resting on a bed of limestone! It is also connected to Cascade Falls!

We are falling more and more in love with Cedar, I wouldn’t be surprised if one day we move there!

Have you ever been to Cedar City?

We look forward to our next adventure down in the Cedar Hills, if you ever get the chance, head there to see the beauty of nature, especially if you are heading through town!

Rough Night Help

Hey y’all!

How’s your Saturday going?

Josh and I made it to our destination yesterday! But like most people, once you get to where you’re going, and you’ve been cooped up in a car, you are pretty exhausted by the end of the day.

When I am winding down for the day, I generally just like to turn on Netflix or YouTube and zonk out. Sometimes that isn’t enough. My mind will run and run keeping me awake and alert. Two things you don’t want to be feeling when you are trying to- oh I don’t know- sleep?!

That’s when I pull out my essential oils and a good book 🙂

I am currently reading The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, I am posting my current locations on Goodreads. Along with putting breathe on my chest, lavender on my wrists, I start to feel the effects. Even then, I may need some help, only when I am away from home, that’s when I turn to the Serenity blend. Within 15 mins, I am out.

What do you guys do to help you sleep?

Packing Up!

20170601_181347

To continue where I left off on what I do to pack… I love making lists to help improve what I NEED to take verses what I WANT to take. It helps my also stay focused, this way I don’t fill my bag up with useless things I need for my trip!

20170601_181322

I will never leave without packing my doTERRA oils! I generally put these in my purse with me, but these are what keeps my together when taking trips, no matter how far. I have two personal blends, then my Breathe and Lavender, along with my PastTense and InTune for headaches and anxiety attacks.

I find that toiletries can either make or break the trip. I have left the house leaving so many things I needed behind. Once I left my shampoo and conditioner behind and had to buy some. I dunno about you, but I would rather save that money for something else. I’ve gotta say, sometimes you should pack a little more, to save you a whole lot less. If that makes any sense at all!!!

After getting everything packed up into my purse and suitcase, all that is left is to load up the car and get going, which we will be doing in the morning! Again, this trip isn’t very long, but I want to enjoy more of it!

Upcoming Trip!

Happy Thursday everyone!
Josh and I have a mini trip coming up on Friday and we both are getting ready for it today. We are heading down to Southern Utah for a baby blessing on Sunday! I am so excited on the account that we are going to be seeing my family again after 2 months. It isn’t a super long vacay however, but none the less!

At this moment, I am downloading a couple books to my tablet and waiting for some laundry to finish drying. I am so particular when it comes to making sure everything is clean before leaving. That way when I come back, everything is nice and not more to do when I get to unpacking.

I thought it would be kind fun to list what I like to take with me when I go on a trip!

  • Phone: I don’t think I need to list why I take it… So I can stay in touch with people so they know I am alright while traveling! Duh! Along with social media and news. 😉
  • Tablet: I download all my audio books to it along with my music!
  • Laptop: It is way easier to update my blog via Laptop, also in case I want to play some games!
  • doTERRA oils: I ALWAYS travel with my essential oils and oil blends. I don’t want to be without them if I have a panic attack or start to feel icky.
  • Book: I NEVER travel without taking a book with me.
  •  Sketchbook and Pencils: You never know when inspiration is going to strike. When an image comes to mind I want to draw, I am ready!

I will post a little more once I get the laundry done and can get things rolling! Mostly like what I am taking with me and a little Packing Segment..thing!

Reading Challenge 2017

We are almost into June! And this means that summer is quickly descending upon us!

This also means that we are half way through the year (at the end of June). And on the wonderful site of Goodreads, I am on my way of completing my Reading Challenge! I have personally challenged myself to read at least 6 books by the end of the year.

If I can read more, then wonderful! The only problem I have is that I want to read several things at a time! I have at least four different books that I am reading in tandem. This is one of my biggest struggles when it comes to reading. I am not the only one in my family to struggle with that. Sorry, I’m going off topic!

So, I have read 2 out of 6 books already this year! Not all hope is lost! You can see my current reads on the sidebar if you want to see what I am up to! If you have any challenges you are making for yourself, I wish you the best of luck!!!! Whatever they may be!
